February 2012
We'll be serving with the Winter Haven Rotary Club in making dried food bags for "Kids Against Hunger." The 50,000 food bags will be distributed locally and around the world. Deep Roots will also be making and serving lunch for the hundreds of volunteers.

"Children of the City" Christmas Project -- we grilled a few thousand hot dogs for the families attending the citywide Christmas party
Advent Conspiracy -- collected money for Living Water International, the Good Samaritan Orphanage in Tanzania, and LifeChoice Pregnancy Resource Center in downtown Winter Haven

Thanksgiving Dinner at Street Angels -- made and served Thanksgiving dinner at Street Angels, a local organization that provides food for the homeless and needy

"Ghoul's Night Out" -- helped the city with their annual Halloween event for the community -- gave away 5,000 pieces of candy and 1,500 cards about our church

"Freedom Walk" -- helped the city to remember the victims of 9/11 and honor our heroes who serve us

The Mission -- did a deep cleaning in the kitchen and dining areas, as well as tore down the old clothing donation area in preparation for building a new one

Brandywyne Health Care Center -- played Bingo and ministered to the residents of the nursing home

Car Wash & Cookout for Haiti -- had a car wash and cookout to raise funds for a school in Haiti

Winter Haven Fire Department -- gave baked goods and gift cards for each shift of the Winter Haven Fire Department

Easter Egg Hunt -- Deep Roots joined with the city of Winter Haven for its annual Easter Egg Hunt

Winter Haven Police Department -- the church gave goodie bags to all the officers at the Winter Haven Police Department

Kids Against Hunger --helped fill over 50,000 food bags for local food banks and for Haiti. Our church also provided lunch for all the volunteers.

Bike Night -- sold grilled corn and pulled pork sandwiches and talked with people attending the event about God and church
LifeChoice Crisis Pregnancy Center -- did jobs around the center such as painting, pulling weeds, moving items to storage

Halloween in Terranova -- passed out candy, church information, and tracts to about a hundred families in the neighborhood of Terranova

Big Day -- had a huge cookout at Rotary Park and invited our family and friends, as well as all the neighbors around the park

The Mission -- cleaned The Mission in order to help them prepare for their health inspection -- cleaned & organized the freezer, kitchen, bathroom, outside bathrooms, dining room, and offices
Cruise In -- sold hot dogs and met with the community at downtown Winter Haven's Cruise In, an old car show
Bike Night -- gave away boiled peanuts at downtown Winter Haven's Bike Night
Mobile Dentist Unit -- provided lunch for the Florida Baptist Convention's Mobile Dental Unit, a group that provides free dental care to the poor

Brandywine Nursing Home -- played Bingo and Family Feud with the residents -- also had a clown make paper flowers, visit the rooms, and entertain the residents

Week of Service -- church attenders were challenged to serve as much as possible during the week of June 13 -- some places served were Cub Scouts, Street Angels, helping a co-worker move, cleaning up a neighborhood

Friend Day & Park Clean-Up -- had a cookout for our church and friends and cleaned up some trash at Rotary Park in Winter Haven
Good Samaritan Orphanage -- raised almost $10,000 for a water well for an orphanage in Tanzania

Project Eagle -- worked with the City of Winter Haven for a lake cleanup day -- cleaned Lake Elbert, the lake right by our church on the Polk State College campus

Street Angels -- prepared and served dinner to about 80 homeless people in Winter Haven

Stop Hunger Now -- joined with the Rotary Club of Winter Haven, as well as other organizations, and made over 50,000 food bags that will be distributed in Haiti and to different organizations in Winter Haven.

Winter Haven Fire Department -- showed our appreciation by giving them baked goods and Publix gift cards
Haiti -- collected items that were sent to Sanford, FL, to give to the refugees coming into the country and gave 20% of our offering on 1/25/10 to the Florida Baptist Convention's Haiti relief fund

Living Water International -- collected over $500 for drilling wells in countries with no clean water
"Children of the City" Christmas Project -- cooked and served 3,000 hot dogs for a Christmas party for the needy children of Winter Haven and gave the leftovers to The Mission in Winter Haven and The Rivers Church in Eloise
